(PWA-TEM) 2020

Editor-in-Chief

During my final year at VCU I was elected Editor-in-Chief of (pwa-tem) a literature and art anthology operating out of the Student Media Center. This was my fourth year on staff, as I was an illustrator and then Art Director for two years. During my time at (pwa-tem) we had been awarded a few awards and nominations, however, the most prestigious was the Associated College Press 2019 Journal Pacemacker Award. So I had very large shoes to fill and high expectations as the new Editor-in-Chief.

Through the year my staff and I pushed the boundaries of what it means to be an anthology of literature and art, we opened ourselves up to new forms of media such as mixed media content, live poetry and a film festival. We also pushed our contributors to think outside the box as we challenged them to an abstracted theme of &? for our accompanying chapbook Rabble. We were blown away at the work we received, our contributors not only meet our challenge but hit it out of the park! And we created a chapbook like any other.

(pwa-tem)’s goal has always been, and will continue to be, to create professional publications that showcase the many talents and voices of the VCU and Richmond community. We strived to create a publication that is worthy of our name, and that will make our contributors, audience, and staff members proud. And with that goal in mind we created our 2020 anthology and namesake publication (PWA-TEM).

I couldn’t have asked for a better staff, and a more rewarding publication. My staff worked endlessly and with so much passion to create this beauty! And I am proud to present an online copy of (PWA-TEM) on Issuu.com.
